As the highly educated emigrate, not only does the country of arrival become smarter, but the country they leave as well. This is concluded by PhD student Marianna Papakonstantinou of the University of Groningen.

Vorig jaar was ze niet geslaagd en dit jaar probeerde de student het opnieuw. Weer haalde ze het niet en ze vroeg een herbeoordeling aan. Toen ze die niet kreeg, spande ze een zaak aan.

Praten zonder eigenlijk echt iets te zeggen komt vaker voor dan je je misschien realiseert. Soms gaat het om het een simpele ‘hoe is ‘t?’ waar iedereen toch wel ‘ja, goed’ op antwoordt, hoe ellendig de situatie ook is. 

De hbo-opleidingen verpleegkunde willen het aantal eerstejaarsstudenten beperken: veertien stellen er een numerus fixus in. Dat zijn er drie keer zo veel als afgelopen jaar. Ook de HR heeft een fixus.

Op de HR kun je zo maar studenten van andere hogescholen tegenkomen, voor hun minor bijvoorbeeld of zoals Jette de Vries (20) omdat ze op locatie Academieplein stagiairs werft voor Tata Steel. De human resource management-studente van de Hogeschool van Amsterdam loopt zelf ook stage bij het staalbedrijf.

Een succesvolle start-up uit de grond stampen terwijl je nog studeert? Kan gewoon, laat de ambitieuze Glenn de Wild (25) ons zien. Hij startte tijdens zijn studie commerciële economie zijn bedrijf Bloom Foods.

Marwan Magroun ging na zijn studie human resource management aan de slag bij de Belastingdienst, maar dit was niets voor hem. Nu is hij zelfstandig fotograaf en één van de twaalf genomineerden voor de titel van De Kracht van Rotterdam 2017, een stadsexpositie van jonge fotografen.
